5 Jan 2000 - We currently have a sizable number of platelet donors to tide her through the next couple of weeks so we are strongly suggesting that for those of you who want to contribute in some other way, please go to the blood bank to donate blood, not platelets. Thank you for the generosity.You can stop calling Cyndi now, we do not need anymore platelet donors.

We currently have enough donors rostered for blood platelets donation, but here's the criteria anyway:

1. Platelet donation takes 2 hours
2. Take meals before going for the donation
3. Blood pressure > 100/60mhg
4. Age: 18-45 years
5. Weight: > 52kg (that leaves most of the girls out)
6. Hemoglobin >=12gm/dL for female. >=13gm/dL for male (don't worry if you don't know your level)
7. Sex with <= 1 partner in past 12 months
8. Must be heterosexual
9. No sex disease before
10. No blood disorders/long term diseases
11. Not on medication for past 7 days, excluding vitamins/mineral supplements/contraceptives
12. Army boys taken malaria pills more than 1 month ago
13. Army training - Thailand > 3yrs. Brunei > 6 weeks
14. Minor surgery - 3 mths
15. Major surgery - 6 mths
16. If plasma/platelet donors, allow 2 mths for rest before next donation
17. If blood donors, allow 3 mths
18. If cough/cold/flu > 7 days before
19. Travel to Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, Laos - 3.5 years (Malaria pills). If no malaria pills taken then 6 months
20. No HX or suspicion of HIV AIDS before
21. No drug addicts/psychiatric patients/ex-convicts
